Techstars Startup Weekend Tampa
November 7-9, 2025 | Embarc Collective

A Letter from Our Executive Director, BŪP INNO
When I set out to bring Techstars Tampa to the Tampa Bay region, I knew our community had the talent and the hunger for it. Tampa Bay startups already punch above their weight—Techstars gives us the global network to match our ambition.
Startup Weekend is just the beginning.
As a Startup Community Partnership, Techstars Tampa is building a full ecosystem of programming to help local founders start, scale, and stay in Tampa Bay. That includes Founder Catalyst, our pre-accelerator that prepares early-stage startups to become investment-ready. It includes Startup Week, a week-long summit that celebrates and connects our entire community. And it includes the Community Development Lab and Startup Digest—resources that strengthen the support systems founders need to thrive.
But it all starts with moments like this one. Thirteen people pitched on Friday night—and every single one was a first-time pitcher. That's not a small thing. Standing up in front of a room full of strangers to share an idea you believe in takes courage. Watching those founders find their voices, form teams, and build something real in 54 hours reminded me why this work matters.
None of it happens without community. Our 16 mentors gave their weekends to sit with teams and push their thinking. Our 20 volunteers handled every detail so founders could focus on building. Our sponsors—18 local partners plus global support from Techstars—made it possible to welcome everyone, including the 14 participants who attended on scholarship.
To the City of Tampa, Insight Assurance, Suncoast Credit Union, Embarc Collective, and every partner who believed in this vision: thank you. Your investment didn't just fund an event—it activated founders who are still building today.
All three winning teams are continuing their journeys. That's the real measure of success.
We're already planning our next Startup Weekend for April 2026 during Tampa Tech Week, with a focus on Transportation and Mobility. The momentum is just beginning—and there's so much more to come.
Thank you for being part of this story.

What We Learned
Lower barriers, raise support.
When you lower barriers and raise community support, first-time founders show up and pitch. All 13 pitchers were first-timers—proof that accessibility matters.
Mentors are the force multiplier.
16 mentors in the room materially changed team speed and quality. Real-time feedback and expert guidance accelerated what teams could accomplish in 54 hours.
Small teams, big outcomes.
A four-person organizing team produced a $36,700 event with sponsor backing and volunteer execution. Lean operations work when the community rallies.
The ecosystem is ready.
Tampa Bay has the talent, the mentors, and the appetite for entrepreneurship. The connections made this weekend will ripple through the innovation community for months to come.
